Chicken Little Revisited

"The Sky is Falling!, The Sky is Falling!," screamed Chicken Little.

CNN reported that:
(CNN)One of the last remaining sections of Antarctica's Larsen B Ice Shelf is dramatically weakening, according to a new NASA study.
The study predicts that what remains of the once-prominent ice shelf, a thick floating platform of ice, most likely will "disintegrate completely" before the end of this decade
Ice shelves are extensions of glaciers and function as barriers. Their disappearance means glaciers potentially will diminish more quickly, as well, increasing the pace at which global sea levels rise.
European Space Agency satellite images from 2002, left, and 2012 reveal the disintegration of the Antarctic ice shelf.
European Space Agency satellite images from 2002, left, and 2012 reveal the disintegration of the Antarctic ice shelf.
A team led by Ala Khazendar of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, found evidence of the ice shelf flowing faster and becoming more fragmented. The flow is creating large cracks in the ice shelf.
"These are warning signs that the remnant is disintegrating," Khazendar said in a NASA press release. "Although it's fascinating scientifically to have a front-row seat to watch the ice shelf becoming unstable and breaking up, it's bad news for our planet."
The Larsen B Ice Shelf has existed for at least 10,000 years.
The ice shelf's disintegrating state came into light after it partially collapsed in 2002. Scientists watched in amazement as the ice shelf splintered and vanished rapidly in six weeks. No one had ever witnessed a large ice mass disappear so quickly, according to Eric Holthaus, a meteorologist at Slate.
The collapse of the Larsen B Ice Shelf seems to have been caused by a series of warm summers on the Antarctic Peninsula, which happen during what in the Northern Hemisphere are winter months. Those trends built up to a particularly warm summer in 2002, according to NASA.
Larsen B measured 4,445 square miles in January 1995. It went down to 2,573 square miles in February 2002 after the major disintegration, and a month later Larsen B was down to 1,337 square miles.
At present the Larsen B remnant is about 618 square miles. That's less than half the size ofRhode Island, the smallest U.S. state. Two decades ago, Larsen B was slightly smaller than the state of Connecticut.
NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory glaciologist Eric Rignot, who co-authored the paper, said the research gives insight into how ice shelves closer to the South Pole will react with the warming climate.
"What is really surprising about Larsen B is how quickly the changes are taking place," Khazendar said. "Change has been relentless."
Ice shelves are particularly sensitive to atmospheric warming and changes to ocean temperature, said Helmut Rott from the University of Innsbruck after the European Space Agency observed a rapid retreat of Larsen B Ice Shelf in April 2012 via satellite images.
Other prominent ice shelves in the region also have been affected over the years.
Larsen A disintegrated in January 1995. Larsen C has been somewhat stable with some evidence of thinning and melting, the space agency said after observing satellite imagery in 2012.
As I read these declarations of “shame on you human beings” kind of articles I cannot but wonder who profits from the fear mongering of the “Global Warming” crowd? Perhaps, people like Robert F Kennedy Jr, son of RFK and nephew of President JFK, environmental lawyer and environmental activist. Mr. Kennedy’s claim to fame seems to be that he said, “Large-scale hog producers are a greater threat to the United States and US democracy than Osama Bin Laden and his terrorist network.” When asked if he actually made such a ludicrous comment he said, “I believe it and I support it.”
He believes that, “Exxon Mobil and its carbon cronies continue to pour money into think tanks whose purpose is to deceive the American public into believing that global warming is a fantasy.” In goose step with Al Gore and others who are making a fortune by mis-information and fear mongering, Mr. Kennedy has established himself as an “expert” on global well-being.
Along with many other disparaging remarks about those who disagree with him, he states, “The recent disruptions to animal and plant behavior are evident to anyone except for ideologically blinded right-wing flat-earthers and Exxon/Mobil’s political and media toadies like Michael Crichton, Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck.” The real scary thing that I see in this kind of “progressive,” Godless thinking is wrapped up in his calling those who disagree with him, “traitors.”
He said, “These villainous companies that consistently put their private financial interest ahead of American interest and ahead of the interest of all of humanity. This is treason. And we need to start treating them as traitors.”
He seems to echo the sentiments of our President’s dear friend Bill Ayers who advocates the annihilation of anyone who will not join the secular, Marxist, one-world march to modern enlightenment.
Regarding NASA’s recorded observations:
(1                Trying to make sense of scientific data that has only recently been made available, within the context of secular evolutionary theory and inaccurate suppositions about the earth’s history, is an exercise in futility.
a.     An example of this is the statement, that the “The Larsen B Ice Shelf has existed for at least 10,000 years.”
                                                             i.      The simple truth is that the earth’s history, as recorded in the Bible, states that the earth was only created about 6,000 years ago. There were no scientists present at that time and so the record of God must be accepted or the resulting observations will be skewed beyond belief.
ii.      Job was chastised by God when he presumed to know how things really work.
1.     4  Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Declare to Me, if you have and know understanding. 5  Who determined the measures of the earth, if you know? Or who stretched the measuring line upon it? 6  Upon what were the foundations of it fastened, or who laid its cornerstone, Job 38:4-6 (AMP)
iii.      “Young earth,” or “Creation” scientists, have now begun to stand up and bravely refute the foolishness of Darwinian “Old Earth,” secularist thinking.
1.     This will give us a much more accurate understanding of what is taking place in our environment.
iv.      Don’t write me off too quickly. You have to realize that I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s when, those in the know were telling us all that the glaciers were growing at an alarming rate and Los Angeles was going to be pushed into the ocean by the coming ice age.
                                                           v.      Could it be that the earth is simply going through its normal cycles of warming and cooling?
(2                Let’s consider the following statement by Ala Khazendar of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California
a.     "What is really surprising about Larsen B is how quickly the changes are taking place, Change has been relentless."
                                                             i.      The relentless change only seems troublesome if it is compared to the belief that this is taking place within the context of millions of years of earth’s existence.
ii.      The Larsen B is said to be older that the earth has existed.
1.     This skews every consideration about how critical this change is. Especially if one considers the world-wide flood that would have made the ice build up  begin at a much later time in earths history.
(3                A return to Biblical wisdom and the resultant sanity would be a welcome breath of fresh air to the scientific community and a re-stabilization of society in general.

(4                No, Chicken Little, the sky is not falling, nor is the earth melting. Not yet.
