Make The Master Rich

Make the Master Rich

And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come. Luke 19:13 (KJV)

It might be good to read Luke 19:12-27 and consider the call of Jesus to "Occupy till I come."

The Greek word, pragmateuomai, which is translated, "occupy," can be understood to mean, to be occupied in anything, to carry on a business, or to carry on the business of a banker or a trader. The concept that Jesus was teaching is that of bringing increase to the one who gave you your initial resource. This would include the resources of finance, gifts and talents, life and, certainly, the new life that comes with being born-again. Let me focus on the latter.

The initial promise to Abram (who became Abraham), the father of faith (Gal. 3:7 KJV), was that he would become the father of a multitude, innumerable as the stars of the sky. This promise has been fulfilled in his Seed Christ Jesus (Gal.3:16). All he had to do was believe God and "Occupy till I come."

All the ten servants in Jesus' parable had to do was believe God and occupy until their Master came. Their occupation was to increase that which they had been given; no more and no less. Each was held accountable to their own ability and the resource given.

You see, Beloved, God does not ask more increase of you than He has given you resource and ability to work with. Don't measure your effectiveness by anyone else. Just be faithful with what you are given "til [He] come," erchomai. In our case this can be understood to mean until He be revealed at His returning. Jesus is coming back.

Will you have occupied and increased when He comes? Will you have sown His seed and be able to present Him with the precious sheaves of the earth? (Psa. 126:6) I know that you will.
