Where I Record My Name

An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in all places where I record my name I will come unto thee, and I will bless thee. Exodus 20:24 (KJV)

Because of the great truth that we considered yesterday, many have lost sight of the corporate church, the ekklesia. Because of our societal propensity to be self-focused, many “Christians” have rejected the idea of a company of Christians, or of those who, hoping for eternal salvation through Jesus Christ, observe their own religious rites, hold their own religious meetings, and manage their own affairs, according to regulations prescribed for the body for order's sake. This word, ekklesia, denotes those who anywhere, in a city or village, constitute such a company and are united into one body

for the purpose of establishing the rules and regulations of that society and who decide what is proper and what is improper within its jurisdiction and what the economy will be. Jesus said that He would build such a church:

And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Matthew 16:18 (KJV)

This gathering of the church (assembly of Christ’s followers) would take place in various “places” during established times. This can be seen from the following verses: (Acts 7:38; 11:22; 13:1; 14:23; 15:22, etc.). We are strongly encouraged to meet together as “the church,” especially as we see the return of the Lord drawing near.

Not forsaking or neglecting to assemble together [as believers], as is the habit of some people, but admonishing (warning, urging, and encouraging) one another, and all the more faithfully as you see the day approaching. Hebrews 10:25 (Amp)

This is yet another “place” where God will meet with you and bless you. This is also a place where He records His name.
