Recently, the news was ablaze with the account of a group of Open Carry Gun's Rights Activists who entered a restaurant with assault rifles carried and slung from their shoulders.
Needless to say, the manager, workers and customers had a breathless moment as they tried to determine if they were in danger or not as the group called out, "We're the Good Guys!" Perhaps they should have had a bouquet of roses to soften their approach.
How would one know? Until their intent was fully known and they sat down for a meal with no threatening looks or actions, nobody could be sure what was going to happen next.
As a result, several restaurants began to cave under the Anti-Gun lobby's pressure by issuing statements that forbid open carry, or no carry, in their establishments.
I am a firm believer in the right to keep and bear arms. What I don't believe in is frightening people with what is a show of force to make my point.
It's only my opinion, of course, but I think those kind of actions do more to hurt the cause of the "Right to Carry" than help. Frightened people will vote against everyone's right to carry, open or concealed, even though it will leave them at risk in the presence of the real "Bad Guys."
I pray that the owners, corporate and private, will keep their establishments open to those who carry fire arms and not yield to the fear mongering of the socialist agenda.
Just thinking . . .
