Dry?

Dry?

Have you ever had a dry spell in your spiritual life? You read your Bible and pray but it feels like you're just going through the motions? Don't feel alone and don't think for a moment that the Lord has somehow withdrawn from you.

I've had seasons like that and when I do I've come to realize that it is simply an opportunity to refortify my faith. The first time it happened I thought I had blasphemed the Holy Spirit. It was early in my Christian walk and I was so used to physical sensations accompanying the anointing of His Presence that when it stopped I was beside myself.

Fortunately, I had been taught to not go by feelings but by every word of God. I dove into the Bible even though I felt like I was getting nothing out of it. Once, after a year-and-a-half the feelings returned and I asked the Lord what had happened. I heard Him as clear as day when He said, "My son, you were becoming too dependent upon feelings and I needed you to stand on My Word in faith.

Since then I've learned that the best way to get through the dry times is to read the Bible more and spend more time praying in the Holy Spirit. The life giving river that flows from God's throne makes even the dry seasons fruitful seasons. The refreshing rains of the Spirit will fall and fresh revelation will flow again and again.

Just let the River flow and water the written Word that is being planted in the depths of your soul and spirit.
He who believes in Me [who cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Me] as the Scripture has said, From his innermost being shall flow [continuously] springs and rivers of living water. John 7:38 (AMP)
