My God Shall Supply
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19 (KJV)
Paul is saying here that his God will supply the need of those who financially support his work in ministry. The Greek word, pleroo, used for "shall supply" means to make full, to fill to the full to cause to abound, to furnish or supply liberally. He is setting forth the biblical promise of partnership supply. In the previous few verses he has stated that he is more interested in the benefit that the giver receives than he is in receiving himself. He knows that those who have supported him will be liberally supplied so that nothing shall be wanting to full measure. This is the word of God that cannot return to Him void and His plan to finance evangelistic discipleship (Mat. 28:18).
Every thing needful, chreia, or any necessity that you or I may have will be taken care of according to autov autos, the Baffling Wind Himself and the, ploutos, fulness, abundance and plenitude of that with which He is enriched. Doxa, in the sense of the absolute perfection of God as revealed in the personal excellency of Christ and the majesty to which He was raised after he had achieved his work on earth.
Now, that is a mouthful. Everything needful for you and I is found in the glorious magnificence, excellence, preeminence, dignity and grace of Christ Jesus. This is the full supply found in the glorious condition of blessedness to which true Christian partnership is privy. We receive now, in this life, and much more so after the Savior's return from heaven.
Nothing could more support Luke 6:38 (KJV).
