Show Me Your Ways
Show me Your ways, O Lord; teach me Your paths. Psalm 25:4 (Amp)
What more could we desire than to be shown the ways of God?
Our God and Father only shows those who are intimately acquainted with Him His ways. Scripture tells us that what God does could be seen by the children of Israel, but He reserved His purposes, intents, His very heart, to Moses. David wanted to go beyond seeing miracles to knowing God:
He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel. Psalm 103:7 (KJV)
The Hebrew word used in Psalm 25:4, Show, is, yada', which is, though it is a small word, a very powerful and intimate word. It carries the idea, or concept, of knowing which can be seen in the translation of Psalm 103:7. It means, to perceive and see, to find out and discern, to know by experience, and, therefore, to recognize, acknowledge and confess the Lord. The word goes beyond being acquainted with, to the intimacy of the marriage bed. It deals with receiving revelation of the One known.
So, David is asking the Lord God Almighty to make Himself known by revealing His nature and character.Derek is the word used for Your ways. David wanted to know the paths of God, the manners and habits of God as well as His moral character and course of life. He wanted to be taught, dml, lamad, trained and exercised in the ways and paths xra 'orach: God's way of living.
Imagine what our lives would be like if we were passionately seeking to know Him instead of wanting what He provides by way of provision, power, and peace.
Today, take a moment and ask God to show you His ways.
