Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: for the Lord will do great things. Joel 2:21
Fear is crippling. It is the great enemy of faith. In fact, it is negative faith that empowers the enemy of our soul, life and ministry. The simple truth is that F.E.A.R. is False Evidence Appearing Real. The majority of what we fear never happens. The rest is overcome by faith in the promises of God.
I just love it when the Lord shows up or sends His angels to help us. The greeting is always the same, no matter the situation and circumstance. The Lord comes on the scene and says, “Fear Not!” Our verse today tells us that the Lord has promised to do great things (ldg gadal). His means that He will magnify Himself in and through you by making you great and powerful in the strength of His might. We see this in the New Testament where we are told that there are no limits to what we can do in Christ:
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Philip. 4:13 (KJV)
I don’t know about you, but that gives me great deal of confidence and hope for the future. This lays the foundation for faith to arise and to see the enemies of God scatter.
Our verse for today records the Lord speaking to the land (hmda ‘adamah). This is speaking of land in the sense of your piece of ground, territory or country. We are told to be glad and rejoice because of what the Lord is wanting to do in, and through, you. He is going to do great things ( ldg gadal). That is, He is going to magnify Himself in and through you by making you great and powerful in the strength of His might.
You see, the Lord is in and for you. There is nothing and no one that can stand in the way of His mighty working in your life except you yourself. Open your heart and let God arise. Let the Word of God speak to you and let faith arise. As you do, you will see your enemies scatter and victory be your portion.
