We Shall Be Saved

Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.  Psalms 80:3 (KJV)

Turn us again (bwv shuwb) is also correctly rendered as, restore us to the spiritual relationship we once had, or, deliver us from our separation from You by paying our fine. This concept should ring a loud bell to those who have received the sacrifice of God’s Son for their sin.

The importance of this thought is emphasized by the fact that practically the same words are used three times in the same Psalm. Could it be a reference to the Godhead (Myhla ‘elohiym). ‘Elohiym is the plural intensive-singular meaning word used in the Book of Genesis to convey the concept of God being “Three in One.” God the Father and God the Holy Spirit being evidenced and God the Son, present but not presented (as seen in John 1:1-3); not being revealed in Scripture until later.

Turn us again, O God of hosts, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.  Psalms 80:7 (KJV)

Now, “hwhy, Y@hovah the God  (Myhla ‘elohiym) of hosts (abu tsaba’ which is, by many, understood to be (a theophany) God the Son.

Turn us again, O LORD God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved. Psalms 80:19 (KJV)

The Psalmist ends his song with the same phraseology as the second. Consider with me, John 14:9 as we read Jesus saying, “Have I been so long time with you, . . he that hath seen me hath seen the Father.”

What I see here is a cry to, firstly, the Holy Spirit, secondly the Father, and thirdly the Son. This is not to suggest three Gods but a prophetic heartfelt cry to the full nature and character of the Godhead.

The revelation (rwa ‘owr = shining) of seeing Him face to face (Mynp paniym = His faces, presence or person) of the One True God (Father, Son and Holy Ghost) is what is needed to receive the benefit of the price paid at Calvary’s tree for our sin.

So shall “we be saved (evy yasha‘)”!
