After Lot Was Gone

And the Lord said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward: For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever. Genesis 13:14-15 (KJV)
Just as an earthly father makes promises to his children and makes provision to fulfill those promises, our heavenly Father has made provision for us to walk in all that He has planned and promised to us. His Word is full of His loving provision for our time on this earth and for our eternal divine destiny.

Too often, we Christians begin to believe that God will never give us what He has promised. We see others receiving what the Word describes but we always seem to come short of what He has spoken to us. Prophecies seem to go unfulfilled and the Word of God does not seem to apply. Discouragement, flagging hope and struggling faith creep in to emotions and thoughts to the point that doubt and unbelief become the demons of the night. Excuses and a twisting of the Word to fit our experience can become common place in our lives if we are not careful.

Don’t let anything sway you from the sure promise of God!

Like father Abram, there just may be a Lot that needs to be separated from your life. There was certainly a lot that needed to leave my life before I could appropriate my Father’s promises. When I thought myself to be mature in the faith, I was yet but a spiritual child in so many ways. This hindered the extent to which God could give me all He had laid up in store for me and the ministry which He had entrusted to me. I finally came to realize the principle found in the following verse.

Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all; But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father. Galatians 4:1-2 (KJV)

The quicker we mature in the faith, the sooner He can give us those things that belong to full grown, mature sons. The secret is to yield our lives, trusting Him to complete all that pertains to us.
