I Will Bless You

And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: Genesis 12:2 (KJV)

The great promise of God in our text today was given to Abraham and his Seed. It is important for us to note that the promise was repeated to his natural descendants but was specifically spoken regarding the One which was to come, the Christ of God.

Now the promises (covenants, agreements) were decreed and made to Abraham and his Seed (his Offspring, his Heir). He [God] does not say, And to seeds (descendants, heirs), as if referring to many persons, but, And to your Seed (your Descendant, your Heir), obviously referring to one individual, Who is [none other than] Christ (the Messiah). Galatians 3:16 (Amp)

This is extremely important for you and I to understand because this is what gives us the authority to be bold when we appropriate the promises for ourselves.

To the end that through [their receiving] Christ Jesus, the blessing [promised] to Abraham might come upon the Gentiles, so that we through faith might [all] receive [the realization of] the promise of the [Holy] Spirit. Galatians 3:14 (Amp)

We who live by faith have every right to expect to be blessed with our father Abraham in Christ. It was in Him, Christ Jesus, that we were redeemed from the curse of the law and thrust in to a New Covenant relationship with God which allows His blessings to flow to and through us.

And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: Genesis 12:2 (KJV)

Beloved, You and I are blessed to be a blessing. Let us give as freely as we have received (Mat. 10:8).
