Go For Yourself

NOW [in Haran] the Lord said to Abram, Go for yourself [for your own advantage] away from your country, from your relatives and your father's house, to the land that I will show you. Genesis 12:1 (AMP)

If we are not careful, we can pickup a spirit of unworthiness and begin to allow religion to crush our ego. Self-esteem, or our sense of worth as an individual, is not to be done away with but is to be sanctified. In other words, You are important and valuable in the eyes of God and, therefore, should be valuable and important in your eyes and in the eyes of others.

You and I recognize that our righteousness falls far short of the righteousness of God and that there is nothing wholesome or righteous about us. We were born to a fallen world.

For we have all become like one who is unclean [ceremonially, like a leper], and all our righteousness (our best deeds of rightness and justice) is like filthy rags or a polluted garment; we all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away [far from God's favor, hurrying us toward destruction]. Isaiah 64:6 (AMP)

But, once born-again, once cleansed by the covenant blood of Jesus the Christ, we become the very righteousness of God by imputation.

For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become [endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness]. 2 Corinthians 5:21 (AMP)

Now, you and I can accept and obey the call and desire of God to bless us. The only way that this can happen is to leave everything behind and “Go for yourself [for your own advantage] away . . .” The Lord came to redeem and restore that which was lost. It is time to leave and receive.
