"So Help Me God!"

As we prepare to celebrate Veterans Day 2013, I have disturbing news to share with you. According to Steve and Kellie Swisher (BelieversStandUnited.com),The U.S. Air Force Academy has recently decided to remove the words "So help me God" from the annual Honor Code Oath that each of the 4,000 cadets must affirm each year they are enrolled.

The Academy's oath prior to a few days ago was: "We will not lie, steal or cheat nor tolerate among us anyone who does. Furthermore, I resolve to do my duty and live honorably, so help me God." The change in language came after the threat of a lawsuit from Mikey Weinstein and his Military Religious Freedom Foundation.

The U.S. Air Force is currently being led by Secretary Eric Fanning, the highest ranking openly gay man in the U.S. military and several changes are being enacted across this particular branch of the service. However, we cannot let this change pass without making our voices heard.

We encourage you to do two things:

1) Contact the Commandant of the Air Force Academy, Brig. Gen. Greg Lengyel by clicking here, then selecting Public Affairs/Community Relations as the recipient to express your opinion.

2) Contact your local newspaper or television news station to express your thoughts.

The mission of the Air Force is "to fly, fight and win in the air, space and cyberspace." This mission will be compromised if the leadership of this branch of service begins to distance themselves from God and forbid the freedom of its cadets to express their faith.
