I have fond memories of my friends and I winning the West, fighting every battle in the world on the lawns and through the bushes of my neighborhood. We carried toy guns of all kinds and never used a real one for anything other than hunting because we were taught better.
It was fun. Our imaginations ran full of pictures of heroism and sacrifice. We practiced our fall after being "shot" by our pretend "bad guys". We all got together, ran, hid, "shot", and laughed so hard we cried. Then it was time to lay on the lawn and gaze at the clouds floating by. We would see all kinds of creatures and scenes in them and would point them out to one another.
Oh, the days of make believe. What have we done to come to a place where a child playing in his yard and using his finger as a play gun became punishable? Are we so fear ridden that we cannot allow kids to be kids?
Paranoia is rampant. Integrity gone. Truth is fallen in the streets. Schizophrenia runs unbridled in the unregenerate mind.
Interesting isn't it?
Then, those who are supposed to protect us shoot an unarmed woman to death with her baby in the car. Will they be "punished"? Will they be required to answer the questions of her family?
What a strange world we are living in.
