I Am Nothing

I Am Nothing

And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. 1 Corinthians 13:2 (KJV)

The word translated "charity" is the word for God's special kind of love (agape). This God kind of love is only experienced by the born-again believer who develops a covenant relationship with the King of Glory. This is the love by which faith works (Gal. 5:6). The very nature and character of God is this kind of love. It is not natural, human nor humane, love but is supernatural in its origin.

Too many Christians, unwittingly, claim that they are something they are not. They have received a gift and have operated in it with great success for some time. They have prophesied, received revelation regarding some of the mysteries of the kingdom and have come to know a certain amount of spiritual truth. They have come to a knowledge of how faith works and had a great deal of visible success because of it. They may have a large following of supporters and believe that they have arrived in the blessing of the Almighty.

Unfortunately, if the God kind of love is not present in their life, God considers them to be nothing. Yes, that's right, God considers them nothing. If this were not true, Paul never would have said that without love "I am nothing."

Jesus came to seek and to save that which was lost. He came to seek out and restore individuals into the covenant love relationship that Adam had before the fall. He came to bring to full measure the covenant that God made with Abraham. Jesus was the love of God expressed in human form.

For God so loved (agapao) the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 (KJV)

Gifts only work properly when activated and empowered by this kind of love.
Beloved, let's live in this God kind of love.
