Behold What Manner of Love

Behold What Manner Of Love

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. 1 John 3:1 (KJV)

Behold (eido), turn your eyes, your mind, and your attention to the quality (potapos) of Love (agape). This Love is the character and essence of God Himself (God is Love).

This word Love could be translated Covenant Relationship. God has bestowed (didomi), given of His own accord into our care, His pledge of Himself and all that He is and has. He has committed into our care His cause and that which is given forth from Him.

This covenant relationship eternally establishes us in the family of God. He has adopted us with a promise to never break covenant. We can boldly call Him "Abba," Father and declare that we are a child (son or daughter) of His.

Once we receive a revelation of this quality of Love, the power of this covenant commitment, we will no longer be known (ginosko) by the world (kosmos). That is to say that the unsaved, the society of the world, will no longer have intimate knowledge of who we are. They will neither understand nor comprehend our relationship with God nor our way of thinking and living.

Just as those of Jesus' time did not recognize the time of their visitation, neither will the lost of this age recognize the presence of the manifest sons of God. We will not be "known" because He was not "known." We will not be understood because He was not understood.

Without a revelation of the Love of God there is no way to understand, regard nor value the people who are the Loved of God. Consider this when you feel that people don't understand you now that you are saved. Consider the Love bestowed.
