Forever Means Forever

Thy Word Is Settled

For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven. Psalm 119:89 (KJV)

It is vitally important that we come to completely rely on the unfailing veracity of the Word of God. He says that what He has spoken is "settled." The Hebrew word used here is, natsab, which makes us to understand that the spoken words of God will be found to stand firm throughout eternity. His words are fixed in the fabric of the eternal now. They are timeless.

Have you ever heard someone say, "He is as good as his word"? We understand that a man is only as good as what he says. If he can't be trusted to do what he says, he is of no value whatsoever. God is not a man and He cannot, will not, lie.

God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? Numbers 23:19 (KJV)

And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent: for he is not a man, that he should repent. 1 Samuel 15:29 (KJV)

The Lord has such regard for His Word that He set it's importance above His own name.

. . . thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name. Psalm 138:2 (KJV)

He has vowed that His words are established and to be trusted forever.

Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. Luke 21:33 (KJV)

This is so important that He personally watches over His word to make sure that it accomplishes what He means for it to.

Then said the Lord unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it. Jeremiah 1:12 (KJV)

For I am the Lord: I will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall come to pass; it shall be no more prolonged: for in your days, O rebellious house, will I say the word, and will perform it, saith the Lord God. Ezekiel 12:25 (KJV)
