And as soon as He was alone, those who were around Him, with the Twelve [apostles], began to ask Him about the parables. Mark 4:10 (AMP)
Revelation is for those close enough to Jesus for Him to consider Himself "alone" when they are with Him. Revelation flows freely to those who are in relationship with the Revelator.
The Twelve not only enjoyed His presence but they realized His perception. With them were others who were included in this wonderful inner circle of relational friends.
Jesus, almost always, spoke in parables so that those who treated the things of God as nothing more than a religious curiosity would not be able to understand. These were those mentioned in Isaiah and seen proliferating in the land today:
And He said, Go and tell this people, Hear and hear continually, but understand not; and see and see continually, but do not apprehend with your mind. Isaiah 6:9 (AMP)
The Twelve, and those with them, were the "tenth" that were found faithful in the midst of the "great forsaking" and were called the "holy seed" (Isaiah 6:12, 13). God will always have a remnant people who draw close to Him, love Him and serve Him, and to those He will give the mind of Christ (the wisdom, understanding and insight of Christ).
He said to them, To you it has been given to [come progressively to] know (to recognize and understand more strongly and clearly) the mysteries and secrets of the kingdom of God, but for others they are in parables, so that, [though] looking, they may not see; and hearing, they may not comprehend. Luke 8:10 (AMP)
Don't settle for just going through the motions of religious liturgy. Press in to that ever growing inner circle of relational "friends" that are allowed to "hear" and "see" (John 15:15).
