Repentance

Just as judgement begins in the house of God, so does the fresh outpouring of the Spirit (1 Peter 4:17). To bring about a change, from judgement to a fresh outpouring, there must be a revelation of the sin that separates and hinders communion.

As we seek the Lord in supplication we must agree with God concerning the revelation of sin (confess) and then must wholeheartedly repent. The repentance that God is looking for is not that of being sorry. Being sorry does not necessarily change the attitude or outlook of the one confronted with personal sin.

The Greek word, metanoeo, has the value of a changed outlook and attitude. The word means, to think differently or reconsider ones opinion afterwards, i.e. reconsider (to morally feel compunction). Biblical repentance is that of one who turns from a position facing away from God to one in which he faces God and agrees with His viewpoint. This is a critical action, if we are to usher in revival within the Church and the convicting power of the Spirit of Harvest into the world.

This confession of sin repented of reestablishes the necessary environment for revival's outpouring in that, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9).

The resulting application of the blood of Jesus and the refilling with the Holy Spirit rekindles the passion of the baptism with fire that accompanied the infilling with the Holy Spirit. The pure power to be a witness is once again released and the harvest will take on New Testament proportion:

. . . and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls (Acts 2:41).
