What Is All The Flap About?

This is a most interesting hour.

Many who call themselves "Spirit filled" Christians deny the most basic and elementary teachings of Scripture as concerns the things of the Spirit of God.

They maintain that "tongues aren't for everyone" or that "tongues don't belong in a church gathering - because we don't want to offend anyone."

The former teaching is typical of Satan's deceits in that it gives great pride to those who have "the gift" and the latter reveals Satan's fear of tongues - the least of the gifts - in its power to arrest the attention of the unbeliever and to strengthen the believer.

(1Co 14:22; 1Co 14:4)

Isn't it odd that Jesus would command all of his followers to receive the promise of the Father and then change His mind as it relates to the Church of today. That He would give the early Church power but with-hold that same power from the believer of today is inconceivable to me. Has God become a "respecter of persons" or is there now a "difference" so that one can be more, or have more, than another. I think not! (Act 1:4,5,8;Luk 24:49;Joh 7:37-39) (Act 10:34; 15:8-9)

Every translation that I am aware of says basically the same thing in 1 Corinthians 14:39: "DO NOT FORBID OR HINDER speaking in [unknown] TONGUES." That seems fairly clear to me. How about you?

How can one build themselves up if they are not allowed to do what is required to accomplish the task. Jude says, "But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,". (Jud 1:20; 1Co 14:4)
