The Lord is looking for someone that will yield to His will without any resistance whatever. Such was Mary, the mother of Jesus:
And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her. Luke 1:38 (KJV)
An angel came and spoke of a conception so totally other, yet she simply replied, "be it unto me according to thy word."
Each Christian longs for the day when the Lord will speak to him concerning His purpose and plan. But, is our heart open to what He will say?
How would we know if we would answer with the faith of the Christ Child's mother to be? How can we be sure of our response to a divine visitation? What would our reaction be?
The answer lies in whether we can honestly say, "I have kept His Word." Jesus said:
If ye love me, keep my commandments. John 14:15 (KJV)
If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. John 15:10 (KJV)
We need to take an honest evaluation of how we have been responding to the written word of God so that we can be assured that we are candidates for a visitation of the Spirit.
Our hearts must become broken and pliable so that we can, with our Lord Jesus, say, ". . . not my will, but thine, be done. Luke 22:42 (KJV). This response will open the gate of heaven and bring Divine direction to every area of life.
