Not Against Flesh

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:12 (KJV)

Have you ever been kicked to the wall by a minister of the gospel? God forbid, but all men and women who are “Ordained” are not necessarily that sweet spirited.

We know that all are in the process of sanctification. Doctrinally, we were sanctified at our moment of salvation, we are being sanctified as we walk our salvation with fear and trembling and, when we stand before Him, we shall be sanctified.

It seems that the more wounded a person may have been, and the more unable to truly forgive those who wounded them they are, the more they wind up rending and wounding others. Nothing is more dangerous than a wounded wild animal. They become enemies to all they encounter.

Our “adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” 1 Peter 5:8 (KJV). Though, none of us wants to acknowledge that a devilish spirit (demon) can have any influence on us, it is a simple truth that to deny the possibility is the door of deception.

Knowing this should cause us to apply Matthew 5:44 (KJV) to those situations where we are met with a spirit that is other than Christ like. “But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.”

Ever be mindful that “we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Our battle is not with people or personalities. Keeping this in mind will always cause the love and grace of God to modify any fleshly behavior that we may be tempted to display or might inadvertently receive.
