Signs and Wonders Follow

By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus. Acts 4:30 (KJV)

This prayer for God the Father to reach out and heal holds some interesting words. The word for hand (cheir) is one of those words. Cheir symbolizes the might, activity and power of God in creation and in upholding and preserving (God is ever present protecting and aiding us collectively and as individuals).

Another word of interest is (iasis), “to heal.” Our Father God, as Creator is more than able to heal (iasis), or bring about a cure that can only come about supernaturally. Recognizing this, the individual believer can draw upon His eternal omnipotence (great might, activity, and power), and allow it to flow through him. As it is written:

And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents [that old serpent, the devil]; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Mark 16:17-18 (KJV)

Signs, wonders and miracles are done by virtue of delegated authority exercised by the name of the only begotten Son, Jesus. His name (onoma) is used for everything which the name covers, everything the thought or feeling of which is aroused in the mind by mentioning, hearing, remembering, the name, i.e. for one's rank, authority, interests, pleasure, command, excellences, deeds etc.. We use His name (presenting all that He is) as covenant partners with full authority and power of that name.

He gives all the power, we receive all the benefit. He gets all the glory, we receive His blessing. We stretch forth our hand and God stretches forth His hand to affect the cure.
